My song of the week.

Each week I am going to post on here a song I am listening to whether it is new or forty years old and something I think you will all like to hear. If you love rock music I am sure you will like most of what I post and if you don’t enjoy rock music give it the old college try!

This week I am posting a new song by the band 10 Years. I saw these guys perform on the Projekt Revolution tour back in the summer of 2008 as one of the opening bands for headliners Chris Cornell and Linkin Park.

Cool story my friends and I were out drinking the night before the concert back in Sandusky, Ohio which is not far from where I was born and raised and we ran into lead singer Jesse Hasek and bass player Lewis Cosby at Buffalo Wild Wings. One of our friends was celebrating his 21st before the night of the big show and these guys bought our group some shots and gave a shout-out to “the drunk kid” they met the night before! They were really down to Earth guys and it’s nice to see they are becoming a lot more popular in the rock world.

So here is their new song, “Backlash”! Awesome song and a pretty sweet and freaky video.

How did I miss this?

OK so either I have been slacking a little bit or I traded my Black Ops game in too soon. Let’s just compromise and say a combination of both. I didn’t realize all the way back in May of 2011, May 2nd to be exact that Avenged Sevenfold released a new song called, “Not Ready to Die” which was the lead single off the “Call of Duty: Black Ops” video game soundtrack.

It is the first song released by the band with as of right now their fill in drummer, Arin Ilejay. This song has that great metal sound of Avenged along with some of the screaming elements you would hear from their early years. And like in typical A7X fashion you get your money’s worth with the song being just over seven minutes.

Take a listen and give me your thoughts.

Welcome to the blog!

Well I guess I can start this off generically telling you who I am and what I do so let’s go ahead and do that. My name is Ryan Fantozzi and I live in Green Bay, WI. I grew up a Green Bay Packers fan since I was four years old so when I was 19 I decided to transfer up to UW-Green Bay to pursue a career as a sports writer. Well that was all fun and great until I started co-hosting a sports radio show and fell in love with the idea of doing radio as a career. So yeah..you guessed it I pursued that route and now I work in radio as a rock DJ on 93rock right here in Green Bay. I also do a bunch of behind the scenes stuff but I would rather not bore you with that stuff…I mean how cool is it to say, “Hey I loaded this spot (commercial) talking about the new Trojan condoms!” Well I guess it’s promoting people to have safe sex which is a good thing but not an exciting part of the job.

So I will tell you what is cool about my job. I get to DJ some of the greatest rock music ever recorded! You know, rock music, that genre that requires people to have musical talent and be able to play an instrument such as a guitar or drum set? DJ’ing for 93rock or 93.5/93.1 on your radio dial or at 93rockon.com is one of the best experiences of my life. I get to play anything from classic rock/metal bands like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and AC/DC all the way up through 2012 and all the great kick ass rock that came in between. While I love classic rock I am a big fan of 90’s and 2000’s rock mostly Disturbed, Linkin Park (first 2 albums), Korn, Rage Against the Machine, Slipknot and Five Finger Death Punch to name a few.

Ever since I have been a kid I have had two passions- sports and rock music. On this blog I will share my thoughts on the ever changing world of sports and rock music you should be listening to or just some great rock music in general and my thoughts on it. So to kick us off here are a couple videos of rock music I love…Enjoy!
