Finally! The preseason is over and we are just a few days away from the start of the regular season next Wednesday night and a little more than a week away from the Packers opening game! All right, been a hectic week and another hectic day so time to get to my points from last night’s game.
Here is what I liked:
Graham Harrell- I don’t know if John Elway shot Harrell a text that said, “it’s time to pull the trigger” or what but man he looked like a completely different quarterback last night. Harrell had time to throw, got to play with starting tight end Jermichael Finley and most importantly was accurate with his throws.
Defense- While the defense gave up a lot of yards on the ground, the defense came up when it needed to and only surrendered three points. Sam Shields had a nice interception off Brady Quinn in the end zone to halt a Kansas City threat.
Here is what I didn’t like:
Fumbles- I love the addition of Cedric Benson but seeing him put the ball on the ground (recovered by the Pack somehow) the first play of the game was a little concerning. Maybe I am making too much of this but the Packers had a lot of turnovers this preseason. I am just hoping the trend ends here.
Run defense- Yes I realize up a bit on the page I was happy with the defense. This has more to do with the fact I will be worried if B.J. Raji gets injured during the season for an extended period of time. He left last night with an ankle injury and the run defense seemed to fold a bit.
Overall the Pack went 2-2 and looked a lot better in their last two games. So hopefully they take this momentum into week one vs. the 49ers.
