It’s about damn time! The NFL regular season kicks off tonight with a match-up between division rivals from the NFC East. The Dallas Cowboys visit the New York Giants tonight with kick-off at 7:30 central time. Tonight also begins the competition between myself, my former college radio co-host Josh Brewer who will make his picks at http://alwaysbrewing.blogspot.com, and any of you out there that want to make your NFL picks. We are choosing five games every week. One game will always be the Packers game since Josh and I both live in Green Bay. The four other games will be the ones we find intriguing. Let’s get it on!
Dallas Cowboys at NY Giants. The Giants are coming off a Super Bowl Championship season and are opening the 2012-13 campaign at home against a hated rival. Dallas will be better this year but Giants still get it done.
San Francisco 49ers at GB Packers- The Packers are coming off one of the greatest regular seasons in NFL history but an early exit from the playoffs has left a much needed chip on their shoulder. 49ers come in boasting a ferocious defense with a lot of hard hitters. Pack come out on top playing at home.
Indianapolis Colts at Chicago Bears- A new era begins in Indy and a change in Bears football could be on the way. Andrew Luck was impressive in the preseason and looks like he can be an integral piece in speeding up the rebuilding process in Indy. The Bears have a healthy Jay Cutler and Matt Forte back on this offense. Add in Brandon Marshall and this is the best offense the Bears have had since trading for Cutler. Bears turn out to be too tough of an opening test for the young Colts.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Denver Broncos- Peyton Manning takes over for the highly entertaining Tim Tebow. I have the Broncos getting a wild card spot and a win in Sunday night’s game will be a good way to get that started. The Steelers are my other wild card team. I think they take a few weeks to get things going with the return of Mike Wallace and some injuries.
Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens- The sophomore sensations Andy Dalton and AJ Green get tested right away with the Baltimore Ravens who don’t have T-Sizzle but always have an intimidating defense. It’s put up or shut up season for Joe Flacco and he can make a great case on national television in week 1 why he deserves to be paid top 10 money. Baltimore’s experience proves to be too much in the end.
If you would like to play along this season make your predictions in the comment section below. I will tally them up every week and post the results on the NFL PICK RESULTS page at the bottom. Good luck this season!
