Two weeks into the fantasy football season and there are some guys out there who you might want to think about picking up on your team. Just like the real NFL there is no need to panic two weeks into the season but if you feel like you can make an upgrade to your team, go for it! Here are a few players I have picked up and some others have picked up in this young season.
Alfred Morris– Mike Shanahan is basically the puppet master when it comes to running backs. He dangles someone out in your face then swoops in and throws another random guy in. Morris might not be available in a good amount of leagues but if he is on your free agent list nab him quick. His two td’s in week one show he has a knack for the end zone and had it not been for RG3 getting the call, Morris could be one of the highest rated fantasy backs in the young season. If he keeps this up, there will be no need for Shanahan to look at Roy Helu or Evan Royster.
Martellus Bennett– Two touchdowns in two weeks maybe have some people thinking, “wow where the bleep was this in Dallas?” With Hakeem Nicks banged up and no real third option at wide receiver pick Bennett up quick. The guy who never lived up to the hype to be able to stretch the field in Big D might have found a nice niche with the G Men.
Danny Amendola– A guy who I saw get drafted in one of my four leagues did nothing but catch 15 passes last week for 160 yards and a touch. Remember two years ago Amendola put up 83 catches so if your league is PPR, (points per reception) snag him quick. The Rams need a go to guy and he might have gotten hired.
Sam Bradford– Time to move onto the guy who will be throwing those passes to Amendola, Sam Bradford. After being banged up last season Bradford looks to regain the form he had his rookie season. Look for him to continue improving his very respectable numbers of 508 yards, four touchdowns and only one pick.
Mike Williams– The Tampa Bay wideout saw a bit of a sophomore setback after posting double digit td’s as a rookie and helping out my fantasy team. Bucs fans might have had a few thoughts running through their heads of another potential Michael Clayton but Williams has responded well with back to back td’s in the first two weeks. I drafted him in a couple of my leagues but he was still out there in my CBS league.
Andre Brown– One of my roommates was talking with me about some sleeper guys and I like this one, Andre Brown. Ahmad Bradshaw is out tonight and who knows for how long and with his injury history Brown might get the call over rookie David Wilson if he performs well. Great things about running backs in fantasy, you can always find a back up who is ready to break out. A la Michael Bush from last year.
Daryl Richardson– Steven Jackson is listed as questionable and after a 15 carry game for over 80 yards Richardson might be worth a pick up. The seventh round pick out of Abilene-Christian has ran well in his first two games and apparently has out-played fellow rook Isaiah Pead who was taken five rounds ahead of him.
Cleveland Browns defense- In one of my yahoo leagues, the Browns defense has all ready brought in 29 points. The AFC North had four of the best defenses and while it might be shocking to most of you that included the Browns! Hopefully my family and friends back home who are Browns fans hang their hat on that. Although Joe Haden is out for the next three games because of the league’s substance abuse policy they are worth picking up and will only get better when Haden returns.
If you have more feel free to comment and let me know! Good luck this season!
