Talk about a great cover!

I always wonder how a band feels when one of their songs gets covered. For example, in the case of Limp Bizkit covering George Michael’s song, “Faith” he was not pleased. According to guitarist Wes Borland, Michael hated the cover and hates Limp Bizkit for doing it.

However in the case of Ozzy Osbourne and Lita Ford, they don’t have to worry about their cover of “Close My Eyes Forever being butchered. David Draiman’s side project, Device recently released the cover of “Close My Eyes Forever” with Halestorm lead singer, Lizzy Hale. It is a phenomenal cover of the song and Hale is the perfect counterpart with her incredibly powerful voice and range. Take a listen below:

Gravesend

This has been an incredible week for new music! I can’t remember the last time I have had so many of my favorite bands release so many kick-ass songs.

Yesterday Stone Sour released another song of their upcoming album, House of Gold and Bones Pt. 2. The song is called “Gravesend” and is the heaviest track I have heard off the new album. From start to finish it’s in your face, get the fucking pit going feel. It has a huge Slipknot feel to it as well, which is never a bad thing.

Song of the week 3-28

I really should have shared this as new music a few weeks ago, but I slacked so now it will be the song of the week. Rob Zombie’s “Dead City Radio and the New Gods of Supertown” will be your last song of the week for the month of March. Hold on….one second….OK, yes I got the whole title in there. Phew!

This is a song Zombie fans will love and it’s a great track to release as the first single off the upcoming album, Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor. Take a listen for yourself!

Even more!

This will be the fourth new song I will have posted this week and the second by the newly formed band, Device. David Draiman’s side project is really heating up and has released their second song of the week from their upcoming self-titled album. The song is called “Penance” and just like “Vilify” and “You Think You Know” before it, the song does not disappoint. Take a listen below for yourself!

Another GBME show, and some good advice!

Hey everyone, the metal/hard rock youtube podcast I do with a couple of my buds is back with another episode. Some of the members of Zach’s band join us to discuss what musicians they would like to party/hang out with. Plus music news and new music. Also some great hygiene tips!

New AIC!

It’s been a hell of day for new music! I haven’t posted three blogs in one day in a long time but just seeing a link for Alice in Chains’ new song I couldn’t resist. The song is called “Stone” and this song is a lot catchier right away for me than “Hollow” was. “Hollow” has grown on me this last month but “Stone” really got my attention from the get go.

Take a listen for yourself and let me know what you think.

Ready to Go!

Limp Bizkit have made their return with a new song called, “Ready to go“. Since middle school, I have been a huge fan of these guys and am extremely happy they are back together. Having said that, I despise the fact they have released a new song featuring Lil Wayne. I guess that’s what happens when you sign with Cash Money Records. While he is only on a portion of the track it takes a song which has a lot of promise down quite a few notches.

Guitarist Wes Borland however is phenomenal like usual and Fred Durst again has his awful, yet catchy lyrics which will keep your ears on this song. As much as I can’t stand Wayne’s vocals the rest of the song is actually pretty good and deserves to be listened to. I just wonder if any rock stations in the area will even touch this song.

More new Device!

I wish it was April 9th and no not because it could mean that the snow might actually be gone here in Green Bay, but because Device’s album will finally be released. If you didn’t know Device is the side project of Disturbed front-man David Draiman. “Vilify” the album’s first single was released a few weeks ago and has been a huge success.

The song I am sharing today is called, “You Think You Know” and just like “Vilify” it does not disappoint. It’s another kick-ass track with great lyrics and I cannot wait to see what the rest of the album has in store.

New Dead Sara!

Dead Sara has come out with another bone-chilling song you will be sure to keep on repeat. The new song is called, “Lemon Scent” and proves the band is not a one-hit wonder. It’s a very interesting song, with an almost Muse, meets Arctic Monkeys feel with heavy guitars and the powerful voice of lead singer, Emily Armstrong.

Dead Sara is here to stay. This song proves it and I cannot wait to hear what they come out with next. Plus the video is pretty kick-ass.

Song of the week 3-11

In honor of 3-11 day, the song of the week will be from the band, 311. 311 was one of my favorite bands growing up but I have not enjoyed much of their music lately so I will be sharing one of my favorite songs from awhile ago, Down.  The song has the great combination of rock/rap and guitars which made me a huge fan of them as a kid. So enjoy and happy 3-11 day!
