100 days away.

It’s time to begin the countdown for the Green Bay Packers opening game of the season so I have to share a few of my feelings so far. Week one is a carbon copy of how the Packers started and ended last year, playing the San Francisco 49ers. The Packers were outplayed and out-physicalled(yes I am making up words) in both games. The Pack didn’t do much in free agency outside of signing veteran tight end Matthew Mulligan but getting Aaron Rodgers and Clay Matthews signed to long-term deals put a lot of minds at ease.

While some might scoff at the signing, Mulligan who is 6’4 and 260 pounds is known for his blocking which is something Green Bay has lacked at that position. Mulligan is going for a spot at one of the deepest spots on the team but he might be the angry S.O.B this team needs at tight end.

A few other players who intrigue me are rookies Datone Jones and Eddie Lacey. Jones gives the Packers the long-armed 3-4 DE every team desires while Lacey might be the first Packers running back to knock defenders on their ass consistently since Ahman Green.

I have a very optimistic feeling about this rookie class and I keep telling myself don’t get too excited until you see what these players bring in training camp and beyond. The Packers realized they need to increase the physicality and some of the guys drafted bring that nastiness to them. It’s time for the Pack to get the horrid taste out of their mouths from the last two playoff losses and prove they are the top team in the NFC.

Who doesn’t hate this?

OK, I have bought more CD’s in the past six months than I have since I was probably in high school. While I love pretty much every CD I have bought in this span, their is one aspect I cannot stand, taking off the plastic and the annoying stickers. Well don’t let me tell you how much I can’t stand this, take it from the man Corey Taylor.

Song of the week 5-29

This will be the last song of the week for the month of May so we might as well go all out and get the pits going. Mudvayne’s song, “Fucking Determined” or is it just determined? Oh well either way it’s a kick ass metal song and deserves to be listened to extremely loud. So enjoy!

Is he losing it?

Let me start this off by saying, I love Pantera. They are one of the reasons I got into metal. I just listened to Phil Anselmo’s new song, “Walk Through” from his solo album and I am still debating in my head what I think of it. The music is heavy and tough but there is something about Phil’s vocals in the song that just doesn’t sound right.

I am not sure if it’s because the vocals in this song are choppy or Phil maybe just can’t hit the notes anymore. I hope I am wrong, but take a listen to his new song and tell me what you think.

The latest Call of Duty game.

While I am not the biggest video game player in the world, I do like playing some “Call of Duty: Black ops ll” every once in awhile. Call of Duty is releasing their next big game in November and it might give Battlefield 4 a run for its money. The next installment is called, “Ghosts” and appears to be set in a destroyed future. Watch the trailer and let me know what you think.

New Stone Temple Pilots.

If this headline seems to be a bit confusing don’t worry, it’s OK. Now some of you might be thinking, hmmm, I thought Scott Weiland got fired? He did. However STP made a surprise appearance the other night and had none other than Chester Bennington from Linkin Park as their lead singer.

While I am not sure if Bennington will be taking over permanently, the band released a new song called, “Out of Time“. It’s a pretty good song and it’s nice to hear just straight up rock behind Bennington’s voice. I shared the song on our 93rock page and STP fanatics don’t seem to be too happy. Judge for yourself:

Doing some traveling? Know the lingo.

If you read this blog frequently, you know I am a sucker for youtube videos. This video is both entertaining and educational, especially if you are looking to do some traveling. It is about how other countries view the thumbs up and other hand motions. So if you are looking to travel or study abroad, check out this short video.

New Saliva!

Saliva is back with a great fucking tune! It’s been a few years since Josey Scott left the band to pursue a career as a solo Christian music artist. Bobby Amaru stepped in and I was wondering how the old stuff would sound with him. Well if their new single, “In It to Win It” is any indication, Amaru will be an incredible replacement.

This song packs a ton of energy and heaviness that makes me have faith this band is continuing to go in the right direction. Plus they will be at ROCKUSA which the radio station I DJ for helps put on. So check out the single and let me know what you think.

New Five Finger Death Punch.

Even though this song premiered on The Golden Gods Awards almost two weeks ago, 5FDP’s new song, “Lift Me Up” was just released on the radio which means it takes a little while to find a good version on youtube. Not only is the song completely badass, it features one of the God’s of heavy metal, Mr. Rob Halford of Judas Priest.

Take a listen to the song here:

And here is an article from the band talking about the song and upcoming double albums.

Song of the week 5-13.

So I decided to spend a few hours on youtube last night watching performances of several of my favorite bands. I ended with watching Slipknot’s, Knotfest performance from last summer. The song, “The Blister Exists” came on and it made me remember how much I love that song so I have decided it will be my song of the week.

Also in some big Slipknot news, Shawn “Clown” Crahan said 2014 will be the year of Slipknot! So look for big things from them in the next six to seven months.
